What to know about us!

Hi! We are Lori Rae Follis and Mike Powell, the passionate quilters behind Stitched Waters Quilting!

Lori has been sewing & crafting her whole life. She has learned and enjoyed jewelry making, card making, scrapbooking, woodworking, resin pouring, cake baking, personalized fleece blankets & pet items, custom made bags, macrame, string art, and glass cutting, just to name a few. She has always loved being able to create something special for someone else.

She always wanted to learn to quilt and found a tutorial with Melanie Ham on YouTube in July of 2022. Shortly after starting that she signed up for the last open spot in a beginning quilting class at the local quilt shop. Between those two great resources she learned how to quilt and made her first two quilts (pictured above) simultaneously on her Husqvarna viking designer Epic 2. Once the piecing was completed she had to figure out how to finish them with a basic wavy stitch on her domestic machine. That's all it took - she was hooked! All she has wanted to do since is to quilt! She loves following patterns, cutting out material, and piecing quilts together. She has found her true passion as it brings her a joy like none of the other "crafts" before.

Mike is also a crafter and enjoys woodworking, leather work (making items for our renaissance experiences), pattern creating (when he wants a certain item he can't find a pattern for), sewing items for renaissance wear, 3-D printing, laser engraving, halloween costume design and creation, bag making, embroidery, etc. He excitedly bought a pattern & material to learn quilting and started his own quilt (pictured above) alongside Lori. He quickly decided the piecing part was not for him, but he was very intrigued by and interested in the longarm machine (as he compared it to his CNC machine).

The more we watched the ladies at the shop work on the longarm machines, the desire to be able to do more than just a wavy stitch on our domestic grew stronger and stronger. We purchased a longarm and signed up for a class right away and we haven't looked back! We love being able to finish quilts on our Handi Quilter Forte 24 & Infinity 26, both with Pro-Stitcher computerized technology. The digital quilting design options are endless and it's just so much fun to do! The results we get and the way it finishes a quilt just brings us so much joy! There is just nothing like that sense of beautiful satisfied completion!

We moved to Chipley, Florida with our two kitty fur babies at the end of 2023. Now that we are settled, we are ready to share our passion and joy with other quilters! We eagerly want to help you finish all those beautiful quilt tops so they can be loved, snuggled, and cherished. We take great pride in our ability to add a beautiful finish to quilt tops (and other special projects). We know what it takes to create a quilt top and we will treat your beloved items just like our own!
